Upgrade the electrical system on your Jeep Cherokee XJ with this heavy-duty standard battery cable kit, built specifically for 1987–2001 models with the 4.0L (AMC 242) inline-six.

Factory cables on these XJs commonly develop corrosion and voltage drop over time, leading to hard starting and poor charging. This kit replaces the main positive and negative battery cables with larger 2-gauge pure copper cable for stronger cranking power and improved reliability.

Kit Includes

• 2-gauge positive top-post battery cable with 4-gauge lead (90° bend)
• 2-gauge negative top-post battery cable with 6-gauge chassis ground lead
• Starter lug cover
• Anti-corrosion battery washers
• Anti-corrosion bolts
• Installation kit (8-gauge lug, heat shrink, and terminal for modifying the factory “Y” cable / starter solenoid connection)

Optional Add-On: Terminal Covers (sold separately) – recommended for a cleaner look and added protection against accidental shorts.

Fitment: 1987–2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ with 4.0L I6 (covers both Renix 1987–1990 and HO 1991–2001 models). The main battery cable layout is the same across the full production run.
