Upgrade the electrical system on your late OBS / early Super Duty 7.3L diesel with this complete heavy-duty hard-start kit. Built for 1997.5–1999 Ford F-250, F-250 HD, F-350, and F-Super Duty trucks with the 7.3L IDI / Power Stroke turbodiesel.

Factory cables on these trucks commonly suffer from corrosion, voltage drop, and hard starting. This kit uses a 3/0 battery-to-starter cable for maximum cranking current—the preferred choice for cold climates, snowplows, and heavy-use trucks.

Kit Includes

• Positive 2/0 battery-to-battery cable
• Positive 3/0 battery-to-starter cable with 34-inch 4-gauge battery-to-start-relay wire
• Right and left negative cables
• 2 positive + 2 negative military-style battery terminals
• 4 lock nuts
• 10-gauge, 72-inch start-relay-to-starter wire
• 2 red + 2 black military-style terminal covers
• 2 sets of terminal protectors
• Protective loom
• 5 mountable + 5 standard zip ties

Starter Lug Options

• 90° — stock starter
• Straight — aftermarket high-torque (Denso-style) starter

Important: Early 1997 trucks used a 21-inch battery-to-start-relay wire. Those trucks need the 1987–1997 kit (#2266), not this one.

Why 3/0?
2/0 (#2273) is the standard upgrade. This 3/0 hard-start kit puts a larger cable on the starter circuit for lower voltage drop and stronger cranking in extreme conditions.
